Wellington International Last Month

On 17 August I flew Ak-Wn and landed in a gale force Northerly (as you do).  It was a pretty full on landing and someone I was talking to on the flight told me that it was the third time she had tried to land at Wellington that day, as the first two attempts resulted in overshoots before returning to Auckland!

On the 18th the Northerly had abated a bit and the sun came out.  So I drove up to Strathmore and found a viewing location above Moa Point where there even is a seat where you can wait for the arriving aircraft to appear.  With a long lens you can almost get air to air shots.

Air New Zealand ATR 72-600 ZK-MVA...

Air New Zealand DHC 8-311 ZK-NET2...

Followed by a similar Jetstar example VH-SBI...

and Air Wanganui's Beech C 90A ZK-MKG on medivac duties.

Air New Zealand's Airbus A 320 ZK-OXK taxies for takeoff while Cessna 650 N163JM did a high speed run along the runway before returning to the Execujet hangar.

SoundsAir's Pilatus PC 12 ZK-PLV landed and taxied to their terminal.

Back on the 17th Jetstar was operating a new Airbus A 320 with winglets - VH-VFN

Then leaving Wellington on the 22nd, Air New Zealand's latest A 320 ZK-OXM was pushed back.  Air New Zealand must be due for some more A 320 deliveries soon.

and took off for points South.
