The Vintage Aviator Armistice Day Airshow - Flying Was What It Was All About (2)

Continuing my pictorial essay of The Vintage Aviator Armistice Day Airshow at Hood Aerodrome, Masterton on 10/11/2012....

The flight of the Fokkers - 3 Dr1 Triplanes, the D7 and bringing up the rear 2 D8 "Razors".

3 curvaceous German fighters - the Pfalz D 111 and 2 Albatros D Va's.

Then the British took to the skies led by the Sopwith Camel with its amazingly rough sounding rotary engine.

Followed by the Bristol Fighter.

Then the display turned into a mock dogfight over the aerodrome, the protagonists being 3 Fokker Dr1 Triplanes...

And 3 TVA SE 5a-1's.

The sky was filled with fighters jockeying for position, but eventually 2 of the Triplanes disappeared while 2 of the SE 5a's patrolled overhead.

As the third SE 5a shot down the remaining Triplane.

I thought that this sequence was excellently done, and was probably quite realistic and reminiscent of a summers day over the Western front.  Pretty amazing stuff.
